Rust as Art



The Living Art Centre in Mississauga is a spectacular building. Our first introduction to it are its three-storey high windows. The Centre boasts a theater, a concert hall, galleries, resident artists programs and workshop rooms, restaurants, a gift shop, and a small but beautiful garden surrounding it. This is the legacy of Mayor Hazel McCallion, about whom I wrote a post (with another coming soon) here.

So, what is it with the rusted iron "sculpture" that stand at the front of the Centre?

This is what it looks like when viewed from the inside:



The "artist" is the same woman who did the scuplture in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Garden, I posted about here. I've explained as much as I can of the psychology "sociology" behind her work at that post.
